A technical masterstroke: Profiled wood stairs. After being used for a long time, they are worn out and unattractive. Destruction threatens. With the Prinz D.O.S. Stair renovation system, old wood stairs beam with a new glimmer. It preserves the form and the overall impression of profiled stairs and receives the original appearance. The profile and the new flooring can be laid easily and quickly – it doesn‘t matter if you are dealing with a straight or winding staircase. TÜV endurance strength tests have proven that the stair renovation profiles are especially safe and ideal for high loads.

Quick method for perfect installation:

(1) Level stair steps

Level worn and damaged stair steps with a repair spatula for wood.

(2) Fixing base section

Screw on the basic section. Make sure that it is positioned firmly on the step. Use cross-head wood screws 3.0 x 30 mm.

(3) Drill 6 mm holes

Drill anchor holes 6 mm in diameter through the holes in the basic section at an angle into the step.

(4) Glue underlay

Glue 2 mm thick insulating underlay onto the step to reduce noise and offset the material thickness. We recommend a cork underlay.

(5) Cut cover section

Cut the cover section to size. With mitre cuts position 2 x material thickness of the new step underneath (e.g. step made of 16 mm finished parquet = 2 x 16 mm underlay).

Important:

With the mitre cut, place the cover section onto the double underlay in the same way as it is positioned on the step, i.e. groove facing the back.

(6) Mount new step

Mount the new step from the inside notch board side. The step should be glued.

(7) Fixing wood screen

Cut the wooden screen to size and press onto the retaining pegs of the basic section.

(8) Use product protection

To ensure that the notch board is not damaged when mounting the cover section, it is advisable to push a guard between the basic section and notch board, e.g. sturdy PVC film or a spatula.

(9) Align lamella anchors

Push D.O.S. lamella anchors into the anchor locating slot of the cover section and align with the 6 mm drill holes of the basic section.

(10) Fixing cover section

Press the cover section on as far as possible by hand. Then place a piece of wood underneath for hammering and force in the lamella anchors evenly with measured hammer blows. The cover section engages with the lug of the basic section and rests firmly on the step and wooden screen.
