Expansion joint profile system no. 778

Installing the pre-assembled profile

(1) Preparations

The subfloor must comply with DIN EN 18 365, the flatness tolerances with DIN EN 18 202. Cut the profile to the desired length and align them parallel. Mark the profile edges.

(2) Gluing the profile

Apply fast-reacting installation adhesive or 2-component PU adhesive, place the profile and press it on firmly. Remove excess adhesive with a spatula.

(3) Embedding the profile with filler

Fill in the punch outs according to the flooring level and pull out the filler to zero. The height of the levelling filler is determined by the thickness of the floor covering to be laid.

(4) Laying the floor covering

When the levelling compound is completely dry, work the floor covering to the profile and glue it firmly to the subfloor using a suitable adhesive.

Alternatively: Installing the individual parts

(1) Preparations

The subfloor must comply with DIN EN 18 365, the flatness tolerances with DIN EN 18 202. Cut the base profiles to the desired length and align them parallel. Cut 3-5 cm long pieces from the expansion joint strip, clip them into the base profile and tap them in with a rubber mallet.

(2) Mounting the expansion joint section

Align the prepared expansion joint profile over the expansion joint, mark it and stick it to the subfloor with fast-reacting installation adhesive. Press the base profile firmly into place. Fill in the hole punching and pull out the filler to zero. The height of the levelling filler is determined by the thickness of the floor covering to be laid.

(3) Assembling the expansion joint strip

Remove the short pieces from the base profile, clip the expansion joint strip into the base profile and tap it in with a rubber mallet and tapping block. For floor coverings up to 4 mm thick, the expansion joint strip can optionally be installed after the floor covering has been laid.

(4) Laying the floor covering

When the levelling compound is completely dry, work the floor covering to the profile and glue it firmly to the subfloor using a suitable adhesive.
Done!

Replacement of the expansion joint strip

Cut the expansion joint strip with a hooked blade at one point and lever it out. Insert the new expansion joint strip into the groove and press it in using a hand roller while applying light pressure.

Alternatively, it can also be tapped in with a soft rubber mallet.
